I’m Lotus Buckner.

I’m a Badger and an Illini…and I’m married to a Wolverine. We’re both surprised I admit that.

I am obsessed with sushi, cooking (and playing) in my kitchen, and shopping.

But, I am “in love” with my husband (it was love at first sushi, no joke) and my wildly extraordinary daughter who never seizes to surprise, I mean amaze, me.

I help you maximize and elevate your talent and leadership potential and that of your teams. I am a strong believer that more of us are leaders than we think, and I am here to prove it to the world, one awesome person at a time.

I am a tech-savvy Human Resources and Talent Executive with well over a decade of experience, by day.

I am known for my unique ability to develop and retain high performing, highly engaged and highly inclusive people, teams and organizations. That is a good thing.

I am rather impatient. At least that is my default. That is not a good thing. But I work on it every day.

In my spare time, I tend to my passion project. I host #RealPeople #RealTalk, a FREE (go register!) monthly virtual roundtable series on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

I was recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business on their 2020 Notable HR Leader List. That was definitely a highlight of my story as I was nominated for it!

I believe in giving back.

I serve as a board member of the American Society for Healthcare Human Resource Administration (ASHHRA), chair of the education committee for the Illinois Diversity Council, and mentor at a non-profit called ExcelBeyond211.

I love writing and speaking.

A writer for Forbes HR Council and blogger, I share a candid perspective about the future of work. I am a speaker and facilitator on everything HR, talent, change, diversity and inclusion, and personal and leadership development.

I am true to my values.

I value relationships and thrive on connecting people. I also value integrity, authenticity, learning, and trust.

And, I am on a mission.

My personal mission is to serve as an authentic and valued contributor to everyone I encounter or work with and to grow people to their highest potential, so they reach levels of success beyond their greatest dreams or aspirations.
